Our Goddess this season is Trisha Isabey.  I have known Trisha for about 7 years and can truly say that she is motivated, driven and has a huge heart. Over the years I have seen her open her own design firm and watched it flourish, further sparking her internal drive to venture into new projects like opening her furniture store and build company. I asked Trisha some questions about herself, so I could share some details on this beautiful soul in the hope of empowering others to live their best life.


Goddess Spotlight Questions:

What career are you in or what is your business?

I am an Interior Designer and I have a furniture store – My design company is Isabey Interiors, my Design Build company is Isabey Home, my furniture store is Furnish by Isabey Interiors and my gift box business if Furnish for You.

How did you get started/What is your background?

I spent 15 years in the financial industry – managing client’s portfolios. I retired from that when I got pregnant with my first child and spent 5 years at home. I had a friend who was a developer ask me to design his commercial suite and the rest is history!

Do you have any words of wisdom for others?

To quote Robin Sharma – Life is short. Do big things.

How are you helping other women?

One of my “why’s” is to empower the women in my industry to rise. I see it as a mission to teach them how to achieve bigger and better things. I am here to change the perception of the design industry to reflect the talent and contribution we put towards the build community.

How do you give back?

We support many charities, including Habitat for Humanity. But our big goal is to support Her International. We want to help marginalized women in Canada and Nepal. We donate $20 of every subscription box that we sell. We want our subscription box business to grow exponentially to provide a big support to this charity.

What do you do in your free time?

Shop. Truthfully that is what I love. Good thing I have a store  – it means that when I shop I’m working. I like to golf as well – mostly so that I can visit with the people I’m golfing with.

Have you had any personal challenges that you have overcome?

How much time do you have? So many! I have never attended a college or university. I was a very young woman in my first career – and it was such a man’s world. I think our challenges are critical in our development. It’s where I learned to have grit.

What are your future plans?

We are building a big furniture store that will also house all of my businesses. My goal is to create a place that changes the build process. A one stop shop that alleviates the stress.

What has been your biggest challenges in your career and how have you overcome them?

I had no idea how to build an Interior Design company. I decided to do what I know, so I used the template of the brokerage industry and built it that way. I had no idea if it would work – thankfully it did!

What have been your biggest successes that you are proud of?

My team. I have the most incredible people to work with. We are a team of 24 now. We won the Chba Interior Designer of the Year award this year – it was the first year ever.

What would you say to young women who are interested in getting into your field?

Swing for the stars. Get educated and get ready. It’s not an easy field – it requires strength and courage. Get a mentor and set some reasonable expectations on how long it will take to become successful.

What are some of your favorite self-care tips?

I have an amazing morning routine – When I wake up I do gratitude work, go through all of my goals, read for 10-20 minutes and then exercise. My other self care tips include a weekly massage and I make sure I surround myself with positive and strong people.

What is your morning beauty routine? evening?

My morning beauty routine is full make up and full hair – I am a diva. I take good care of my skin – both morning and evenings. In the evening I have a bath in my beautiful ensuite – complete with Crystal Hills Bath salts – followed up by the Crystal Hills body oil – which I’m addicted to.

What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?

Laughter is the most important thing. If you are not having fun you will look tired and unhappy. A smile is the key to looking your best.

What do you do to stay active and why?

I work out most days – we have a great gym in our house and I do 30 minutes in the morning, followed by a sauna.

Who is your role model and why?

That’s a tough question. There really isn’t any one person that I aspire to. I have many people who’s words have impacted me. Brene Brown, Glennon Doyle, Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama. To be truthful I am a lifelong learner – I feel compelled to keep working at it.

What’s the hardest or most important life lesson you’ve learned?

That in order to get to the good stuff you need to face pain. That’s where all of the magic will happen.

What’s a great book you can recommend?

Untamed by Glennon Doyle – Fasten your seatbelt.

What is your superpower or spirit animal?

My superpower is my honesty. I am what I am. To meet me is to know me. My armour is off.
