Now that the weather has turned crisp and cool, our lips may not be quite as kissably soft as we would like them to be. It is important to stay on top of chapped lips, and to exfoliate and moisturize regularly so that our lips stay plump and healthy, especially in colder weather.
For fall, I enjoy a brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice lip scrub. With few calories but all of the fully pleasing aroma, this lip scrub will work some autumn magic.
You will need:
2 teaspoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon liquid honey
1 teaspoon light olive oil
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
In the mixing bowl, begin by combining the honey and olive oil. This combination provides a nice, moisturizing base.
Next, gently mix in the brown sugar, which will act as an exfoliant. My favorite kind is raw sugar, but use whatever texture you prefer. The sugar will get rid of the dry skin and make way for freshness.
Finally, add the pumpkin pie spice to make the lip scrub fragrant and seasonal.
You can store the mixture in a dry container for a week or so. To use, simply dab onto your lips and massage gently with your finger for about thirty seconds, then rinse off. You will find that your lips feel smoother and softer, and your lipstick will look and feel great.
